Marthinus Burger (37, of Cape Town) and Johan Bezuidenhout (34, of Nelspruit) will take part in this year’s Absa Cape Epic as team Pragmateers.
The 11th edition of the Absa Cape Epic will take place from March 23 to 30, and will see riders battle the natural elements of South Africa’s harsh mountain biking terrain for the coveted championship title and prize purse of R1.5 million (the largest purse in the world of endurance mountain biking).
Burger will be taking on his second Absa Cape Epic and Bezuidenhout will be participating in his first event his year.
“This will be my maiden Absa Cape Epic voyage. Watch this space!” says Bezuidenhout.
Burger and Bezuidenhout are both in the engineering profession and work at Pragma.
Bezuidenhout continues: “I have a bucket list which of course includes completing the Absa Cape Epic. I also want to run a 100 miler, compete at Iron Man world champs in Kona, participate in the Roof of Africa, finish a Dakar Rally and climb Kilimanjaro.”
