Jevandre Pauls from Bonitas Pro Cycling continues to make progress in his recovery, but doctors warn that his condition is still serious.
Doctors also have no indication on the extent of his head injuries yet.
Pauls and Craig Symons (Ride Life Giant), were involved in a collision with a vehicle while on a training ride in Kuils Rivier on March 14.
Pauls was released from Kuilsrivier Hospital yesterday afternoon, and has been transferred to an Intercare facility where he will continue to receive various forms of therapy, including speech, occupational and physiotherapy as he starts the long road to rehabilitation.
Doctors are still unable to determine the extent of his head injuries, but Jevandre is making huge strides everyday.
Currently, he is able to recognise visitors and he seems to be able to understand bits conversation going on around him.
He has lost a lot of weight since being admitted to hospital, but can stand up when aided by two people.
He has use of the left side of his body, but his right arm and leg are proving more difficult for him to move.
He is currently undergoing physiotherapy, and doctors have told us that five minutes of exertion for him would take him about 72 hours to fully recover, so he is understandably tired and sleeps for most of the day. – Bonitas
