We searched around a bit and compiled a list of the top ten tweets from the cycling fraternity, in no official order, following the announcement.

1. Andrew Mclean (@AndrewMclean) is a road and off-road cyclist and owner of Cycle Lab.
“Commonwealth games- 6 Ladies going not one single man on the road. #Disgraceful. @LouisMeintjes silver at Worlds, @darylimpey TDF yellow”.

2. Daryl Impey (@darylimpey) is the first South African to wear the yellow jersey during the Tour de France and he races for Orica-GreenEDGE.
“It’s absolutely crazy they didn’t select a men’s cycling team for Commonwealth Games. Disappointed for everyone!”

3. Reinardt Janse van Rensburg (@ReinvanRensburg) is a professional cyclist at Dutch UCI ProTeam Giant-Shimano.
“So we are in top5 CW nation’s ranking in WT, but dont have an athlete in top5 CW individual ranking. For that, SASCOC does not send a team.”

4. An-Li Kachelhoffer (@anli_k) is a professional cyclist for Activate Drinks.
“Team announced for Commonwealth Games http://bit.ly/Ut18hx . A shocker! No selection for me, obviously I’m not good enough @Cycling_SA”

5. Hendrik Lemmer (@GrootLem) has a passion for riding and commenting about cycling.
“If all countries had #Sascoc qualification policy there will only be 5 competitors per event at #CG2014 imagine run marathon, xco, roadrace”

6. Leon Evans (@Drevilepic) is course builder and designer for the Absa Cape Epic.
“Does anyone in #SASCOC actually ride a bike?”

7. RoyGershow (@RoyGershow) is the director at Western Shoppe in Johannesburg.
“For those who keep asking why I am no longer involved in SA road cycling the answer should now be obvious. Clueless!!”

8. James Reid (@james_reid01) rides for Trek South Africa and recently won this year’s SA National MTB Marathon Championships.
“so many hidden agenda’s in this sport. no clear cut transparency. Coaches are selectors and managers are related to athletes. BS”

9. Xylon van Eyck (@XylonVE) is a radio and TV broadcaster, and involved with cycling PR and commentary.
“Even Bryan Habana is playing sevens rugby in Glasgow but no space for @darylimpey @LouisMeintjes @ReinvanRensburg at Commonwealth Games.”

10. Kandice Buys (@KandiceBuys) is the sports administrator for Team Bonitas, Team RECM and the Mzansi Tour.
“No Elite Men’s team for Commonwealth Games, would have been the strongest team we’d have sent in YEARS, @Cycling_SA?”
