Johannesburg’s oldest mountain bike race, and one of the province’s favourites, has once again committed to prioritising the rider experience.
“I actually competed in the first Spring Classic back in 1995, when mountain bike racing was still small and event organisers went all out to offer great value for money and a balanced, challenging race route,” recalls organiser Richard Beswick.
The former professional racer says the Spring Classic has endured because it has always remained focused on the rider experience.
“That focus will continue at this year’s event.”
Participants can look forward to a reasonable entry fee, quality goodie bag and safe and well-marked route with a variety of natural obstacles in the countryside.
Ablution facilities and plenty of parking are available. There will also be rider communication and refreshment/nourishment throughout the day.
A choice of distances will cater for all fitness levels. The main 45km race starts and finishes at Avianto, Muldersdrift, just north of Randburg. Less fit and technically skilled riders will be able to choose between the 20km and 10km options, which will still ensure a rewarding ride.
The field is limited to 1 200 riders, so get your entry in soon to avoid disappointment. Click here to view more event details.
