At the fourth stage of the Vuelta a Espana John Degenkolb from Giant-Shimano would be one of the only sprinters to get over the last cat two climb located just 26km’s from the finish.
The German rider claimed victory in this stage from the small bunch sprint by a country mile.
In second place was Vicente Reyens from IAM Cycling and third was Michael Matthews from Orica-Greenedge.
Team MTN-Qhubeka began the day with the goal of delivering Sergio Pardilla to the line with the lead group, and they succeeded when the rider crossed the line in 14th place.
With this result our Spaniard also moved up to 21st place on GC, 44 seconds down on the race lead.
Unfortunately, both Louis Meintjes and Jaco Venter punctured at critical times, and Meintjes also took a tumble on the descent of the cat three climb.
