The Argus presented a new logo and name – Cape Town Cycle Tour – at a function in Cape Town on Tuesday evening.
As the world’s largest timed cycle race, the event owners decided that it was time for a name change in line with its global status.
Formerly known as the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Momentum Cycle Tour, or “The Argus” for short, the tour attracts some 35 000 local and international cyclists each year.
Those numbers are a far cry from the 525 riders who took part in the inaugural edition in 1978.
