Cross country Olympic gold medalist Norway’s Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå is set to ride her Absa Cape Epic debut from March 15 to 22.
“I think my endurance will be as good in a stage race as it has been before, both on the road and mountain bike,” she said.
Beside her Olympic title, the 42-year-old also holds nine world championship titles (four in cross country, five in the marathon discipline) and many more European and national championships.
Dahle Flesjå will be riding will her Team World Bicycle Relief partner Switzerland’s Kathrin Stirnemann, who is the cross country eliminator World Champion.
The two women race for different professional outfits on the World Cup circuit but have come together under the World Bicycle Relief charity banner to ride the Absa Cape Epic.
Dahle Flesjå and Stirnemann will also race the Cyprus Sunshine Cup together at the end of February.
