The third annual Dutoit Tankwa Trek, taking place in the Koue Bokkeveld region of the Western Cape from February 13 to 15, will be preparation for riders taking part in the international eight-day 2015 Absa Cape Epic in March.
The Dutoit Tankwa Trek covers a total distance of 268km with 5 340 metres of vertical ascent offering a similar distance:ascent ratio to the Cape Epic.
The DuToit Tankwa Trek offers participants some of the most varied challenges and rewards of any mountain bike stage race.

The Tankwa Trek forms a stimulating mountain bike racing challenge, which is one of the reasons a high percentage of top contenders will be on the start line.
Topping the list of entrants are former Cape Epic category winners, Stefan Sahm, Ariane Kleinhans, Andrew McLean, Nico Pfitzenmaier, Erik Kleinhans, Nic White, Yolande de Villiers and Catherine Williamson.
There are over 200 riders entered in the solo category, another strength of the event, which caters for both two-rider teams and solo mountain bikers.
Three-time Cape Epic champion Sahm is the favourite to claim the solo title.
“We’ve got a very high quality racing field again this year at Tankwa Trek, but as with all our events, we treat every entrant with the same level of respect,” said Henco Rademeyer of Dryland Events, the company that organises the race.
“The timing and location of the Tankwa Trek have seen it quickly become the perfect preparation stage race for the Cape Epic,” he said.
