The Pietermaritzburg MTB Festival is set to host the grand finale of the Development Race Day Series, which will see the top ten riders from each district competing on Friday, April 3.
Five KwaZulu-Natal districts were visited within two weeks during the 2015 Development Race Day Series in February.
Roughly 600 learners were afforded the opportunity to ride a bicycle, some of them for the very first time.
The organisers will supply bicycles for 100 expected cyclists at the BMX-style format of racing at the finale.
Transport costs for the finalists from their respective districts to Cascades MTB Park in Pietermaritzburg will be covered and the competitors will be provided with refreshments at the races.
All competitors will compete on the same type of BMX bike in three races with the two participants with the least amount of points after three races moving into straight elimination rounds.
Thereafter the top four participants will move into the next round until there is a final round of eight participants.
