The Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust has made an announcement regarding the fires raging in the mountains of the Southern Peninsula through which the Cape Town Cycle Tour traditionally passes.
They have been in contact with the City of Cape Town Disaster Management team and Events Office and as part of their standard operating procedure have alternative route plans available for consideration by the authorities.
Once the situation pertaining to the existing route is made clear the Trust will make a final decision about plans for Sunday, March 8 and anticipate making a final decision in consultation with all the stakeholders by Wednesday, March 4.
The Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust appealed to the hundreds of cyclists training for the Cape Town Cycle Tour to avoid the affected areas and allow the officials the space to perform their duties.
