The window period for preferential entries to the 2016 Bestmed Tour of Good Hope lapsed last night, with public entries set to open within the next six weeks.
The five-day road tour, presented by Rudy Project, will take place in the Cape Winelands outside Cape Town from February 29 to March 4 next year.
The event, formerly known as the Tour de Boland, will follow a clover route through the Paarl-Franschhoek Valley, starting and finishing each day in Paarl.
Organisers and sponsors are currently working with Cycling South Africa to obtain UCI accreditation to provide pro teams with a valuable opportunity to earn UCI points.
The amateur and team section of the open/seeded category will be expanded to allow more riders to enjoy a competitive racing experience.
Prize money will be increased significantly across all racing categories.
Entries will be limited to 1 000 riders.
