The Sappi Karkloof Classic MTB Festival, South Africa’s biggest mountain bike festival, turns 21 this May and is set to serve up a weekend of action-packed off-road adventure.

The flagship event of the three-day programme is the 60km Sappi Karkloof Marathon, which takes place on Sunday May 10 and is set to attract a number of the country’s top riders.
Friday May 8 sees riders take on the unique 20km Karkloof Night Race before the following day’s STIHL Karkloof Enduro attracts adrenalin junkies from around the country.
Sunday’s programme also includes the aQuellé 40km Half Marathon, aQuellé 20km Family Ride and aQuellé 10km Kids Ride.
The African Continental MTB Champs in Rwanda taking place the same time as the Karkloof Classic, potentially rules out defending champion Rourke Croeser, 2014 winner Brendon Davids as well as a host of the nation’s top MTB riders.
