Financial giant Deloitte has joined the line-up of sponsors for Team MTN-Qhubeka’s 2016 season.
The African team, which welcomed technology sponsor Dimension Data as the new naming sponsor for next year, has attracted attention following a positive debut at the Tour de France.
Media reports have linked sprinter Mark Cavendish to the team but suggest that his move is contingent on bringing additional sponsorship on board. Whether the Deloitte deal is sufficient to ensure his signing remains to be seen.
Cavendish is also rumoured to be bringing Mark Renshaw and Bernhard Eisel, who are both without contract, on board.
Team principal Doug Ryder said they were incredibly excited to welcome Deloitte as one of their main sponsors.
“This is a perfect match for our team as we continue to ride to promote and develop cycling on the African continent and to support our #BicyclesChangeLives campaign through the Qhubeka charity.”
With the recent sponsorship announcements, new signings are expected to follow shortly. At the very least, the team will be looking to replace Louis Meintjes, who has signed with Lampre-Merida for next season.
