South Africa’s top female mountain bikers will vie for their share of the more than R380 000 prize purse at the FNB Wines2Whales mountain bike race from November 6 to 8.

Elite stars like Ariane Kleinhans, Robyn de Groot, Candice Neethling and Jennie Stenerhag will be among those who line up at the start at Lourensford Wine Estate.

The overall winning women’s team will pocket R65 000, with the runners-up earning R30 000 and third place R17 500.
Swiss rider Kleinhans said she was looking forward to what she considered one of the country’s best stage races.
“I love the amount of great single-track as well as the beautiful landscape of this race. Riders get to experience a variety of terrain over the three days, so it’s never boring.”
Sweden’s Stenerhag, who will race with Ascendis Health teammate De Groot, said it was one of the annual highlights of her racing calendar.
“I am really looking forward to racing with Robyn – our team dynamic is our strength. Our goal will definitely be the top step of the podium.”
De Groot said the increased prize money would draw a strong field and competition would be fierce.
“We are expecting a very exciting and competitive race.”
