Africa’s premier cycling team, who will be known as Team Dimension Data from 2016, announced a sponsorship deal with global investment company Sapinda Holding B.V.
The investment giant, with significant assets in Africa, is the third major partner, after Dimention Data and Deloitte, to come onboard with the team.
Chairman of the Board of Sapinda Holding B.V. Lars Windhorst said they are proud to be partnering with Africa’s premier cycling team.
“We share with them a commitment to enhance Africa’s presence on the world stage and provide a positive impact in the African communities in which we are invested. We look forward to helping them achieve another year of cycling success. 2016.”
The team, that raced under the banner of Team MTN-Qhubeka, powered by Samsung, will be wearing jerseys and shorts depicting Sapinda Holding logo. The logo will also appear in the team buses.
Sapinda has a history of partnering with developmental sport programs, like the Scuderia Torro Rosso Formula 1 team among others. Sapinda sees this partnership with Africa’s premier cycling team as a platform to build deeper relationships and enhance its focus on African communities.
Sapinda Holding B.V., registered in Amsterdam, has its headquarters based in London, with offices across Europe, Africa and Asia.
Team principal Douglas Ryder said this new deal will go a long way towards strengthen the development of cycling in Africa.
“Thanks to partners like Sapinda we have been able to showcase the potential that exists in cycling on the African continent. We share the same visions about mobilizing people in Africa and we look forward to accelerating our collective ambitions through this partnership,” said Ryder.
