Team Rehidrat’s Anton Koller and Gregor Krall were second, with Jeffrey Sullivan and Deon van Vuuren of Team Far Canal occupying the bottom step of the podium.
“Although the wind did make things difficult today, the stage was amazing,” said Freyer.
“It was great having a fellow Namibian team riding out front with us. This really was an amazing experience – I don’t know whether to be happy that we rode or sad that it’s over.”
In the mixed category, Theresa Ralph and Hamish Knowles of Team Galileo Risk took an uncontested win in 12:07:51.
Cycology’s Karin van Niekerk and Mark Mahoney were second in the standings, with Robert Kitching and Collette Bastard of Recycles Racing third.
Ralph said the final stage was tough, given the prevailing weather conditions.
“But I love this event,” she said.
“We’ll definitely be back next year to defend our title.”
Mother-and-daughter combination Lolita and Simoné van Aardt of Tailormade Properties Craft Racing claimed the top step of the women’s podium in 13:32:20.
Taking second overall were Crackerjacks’ Michelle van Aswegen and Emma Pienaar, with Phelia Burger and Erica Green of Reeds Wines2Whales third.
