South Africa’s elite mountain bikers will have the chance to gain additional UCI points in the build-up to the Rio Olympics in August.

The national series comprises four UCI category one-rated events and one category two event.
The event also acts as the opener for the UCI Junior World Series, where youngsters can earn qualifying points for the UCI MTB World Championships in the Czech Republic at the end of June.
Three juniors from the Swiss national team – Dario Gemperle, Nick Baumann and Lucas Strittmatter – have already applied.
Cycling SA will also host two more junior world series races – the Pietermaritzburg MTB Festival on April 30 and the fourth round of the SA MTB Cup Series in the Eastern Cape on May 14.
Online pre-entries are now open, and close at midnight on January 26.
