The Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust have been monitoring the fires in and around Stellenbosch over the past few weeks, it said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, they were in contact with relevant role-players regarding the existing routes and once the situation had been clarified they anticipated making a decision in consultation with all stakeholders by February 5.
The CTCT said alternative routes had been planned as standard operating procedure.
They said their thoughts were with those affected by the fires and the dedicated fireman, farmers and trail builders who had brought it under control.
The mountain bike events take place on February 27 and 28.
