She said she was following the same recipe as in the past three years.
“I’m not unfumiliar with going straight into something like this. I train well on my own and have great self-discipline which allows me to be prepared for a race like this without having to use other races to get ready.”
Moolman-Pasio said her objective was to defend both her time-trial and road race titles. “It’s always such an incredible honour to wear the South African colours on my jersey, especially when I’m overseas.”
Although she was quietly confident of a good performance at the nationals, she said she was careful not to peak too soon as her major focus was the Rio Olympic Games in August.
She is currently attending a training camp in Mallorca, Spain.
