German Karl Platt took his maiden victory in the Fairview Attakwas Extreme MTB Challenge between Oudtshoorn and Great Brak River in ideal conditions today.

Platt, who entered the home straight alongside compatriot and Team Bulls teammate Tim Bohme, held on to win the 121km race in 4:55:24.
Bohme took second in the same time, followed by South Africa’s James Reid (Team Spur) in 5:17:11.
The Bull duo were on their own for much of the last half of the race and took full advantage of the light tail wind after dropping Reid on one of the major ascents after around 57km.
Breaking news from the course was that defending champion Ariane Kleinhans had punctured.
