Karl Platt became the second five-time winner when he and Urs Huber won the 2016 Absa Cape Epic at Meerendal today.
The Team Bulls duo finished fifth on stage seven to claim the overall victory by 13:08 over Centurion Vaude by Meerendal 2’s Nicola Rohrbach (Switzerland) and Matthias Pfrommer (Germany). The all-Italian Trek-Selle San Marco team of Samuele Porro and Damiano Ferraro were third after eight days of racing.

USN-Purefit’s Darren Lill and Waylon Woolcock, from South Africa, were the first African team home in sixth overall.
The final stage was won by Cannondale Factory Racing’s Manuel Fumic (Germany) and Henrique Avancini (Brazil) with Rohrbach and Pfrommer second and Centurion Vaude by Meerendal’s Daniel Geismayr (Austria) and Hermann Pernsteiner (Austria) third.
The women’s title went to the Spur-Specialized combination of Annika Langvad (Denmark) and Ariane Kleinhans (Switzerland) for the third year in a row.
Stage seven winners, Yana Belomoina (Ukraine) and Sabine Spitz of Sport for Good, finished second overall with Topeak Ergon’s Sally Bigham (England) and Adel Morath (Germany) completing the podium.
