The route for the 2017 TransCape mountain bike race was unveiled today.
The seven-day event will cover 675km and include 12 000m of vertical ascent between Knynsa and Franschhoek from February 5.

Stage 1 – February 5
Knysna to Wilderness
Distance: 102km
Ascent: 2 600m
Notable climbs: Simola, Gouna, Hydro, Homtini & Bergplaas
Stage 2 – February 6
George to Van Wyksdorp (Rooiberg Lodge)
Distance: 133km
Ascent: 2 450m
Notable Climbs: Montagu Pass, Tobi’s Tester & Gouritz Exit
Stage 3 – February 7
Rooiberg Lodge to Riversdal
Distance: 80km
Ascent: 1 400m
Major Climbs: KangaKrusher & Garcia Pass
Stage 4 – February 8
Riversdal to Swellendam
Distance: 103km
Ascent: 1 800m
Notable Climbs: Milk & Honey & Grootvadersbosch Ascent
Stage 5 – February 11
Swellendam to Greyton
Distance: 112.5km
