The Varsity MTB Challenge, sponsored by FNB, will combine an established route with a new trail when it takes place on October 1 and 2.
Route designer Pieter van Wyk has created two stages which should reflect the spirit of camaraderie the event is expected to create.

Stage one begins at Nederburg in Paarl and will be the tougher of the two days. Van Wyk said there would be some climbing in the first 20km.
The second stage will represent the new part of the race and will start in Franschhoek, covering fresh trails which have been set up in the area of the Boschendal wine farm.
