Riders will get a taste of new adventure trails when the Sanlam MTB Invitational takes place near Paarl on November 19 and 20.
After having assessed the options for the possible trails from Rhebokskloof Wine Estate, race director Darren Herbst said they were confident of providing the competitors with a special experience.
He said the route scouting for the race, which is co-presented by the City of Drakenstein, also formed the groundwork for creating a series of permanent trails in the area.
“We expect this to be the catalyst to develop an area which has plenty of riding options for mountain bikers.”
He added that riders would be exposed to a number of single-track trails, among other options, through several wine farms, taking in the natural terrain and breath-taking scenery.
Besides the new offering of trails for the riders, the early bird offer for the MTB Invitational was extended to Friday.
This means the chance to receive a state-of-the-art backpack is still available after event partners Scicon agreed to the extension. At stake for those who grab this opportunity is a Solargenome Hydracharge backpack.
The MTB Invitational is based on a two-man team format, but there is a strong family focus as well. Herbst said riders were encouraged to enter as father and son, mother and son, father and daughter or mother and daughter combinations.
He added that they had teamed up with Cartrip, a company that offers an internet-based platform allowing drivers and passengers to arrange lifts together.
