Belgium’s Greg van Avermaet won the gold medal in the men’s Olympic road race in Rio de Janeiro today.
The 31-year-old classics rider beat Denmark’s Jacob Fuglsang and Poland’s Rafal Majka in a sprint finish on a course that was described as the toughest Olympic history.
