Gerrie Beukes won this year’s Karoo to Coast 96km mountain bike challenge which took place from Uniondale to Knysna on Sunday.
His winning time was 3:25:29 and he was followed home by Vickus Boshoff in 3:27:55 and Tiaan Jordaan in 3:30:00.
Mellusca Toovey dominated the women’s race in a time of 3:48:34, followed by Jeanie de Villiers in 3:48:35 and Chantell Lombard in 3:58:06.
Over 4 500 local and international riders gathered at the start line on Voortrekker Street to take part in this premier mountain biking race.
All proceeds from the event go to Sightfirst, the South African Guide Dog Association, and other urgent needs in the community.
Entries for the 2017 event will open on January 20.
