Last year’s runners-up, Roberto and Emanuele Crisi, have signed up for this year’s Cape Pioneer Trek which takes place next month.
Dutch pair Bram Rood and Gerben Mos, who claimed third spot last year, will also be targeting a higher position.

Leading the South African challenge are 2012 winners Gawie Combrinck and Nico Bell (Team NAD).
Two of the most consistent marathon racers, Combrinck and Bell have heaps of Cape Pioneer Trek experience, mostly as team-mates, which should stand them in good stead for another crack at the title.
An exciting new pairing on the early-entry list is the Team Spur combination of James Reid and Julian Jessop.
The women’s early-entry list is also looking promising.
Britain’s Catherine Williamson, winner in 2015 with Esther Suss, is back, but this time with South African Leana de Jager as the Klein Karoo International team.
