Brendon Davids will aim to defend his Berg and Bush Descent title alongside Alan Hatherly, who represented South Africa in the cross country race at the recent Rio Olympics.
Other top men’s teams set to take part in the three-day mountain bike race in KwaZulu-Natal from October 7 are Waylon Woolcock and Darren Lill (USN-Purefit), Gawie Combrinck and Nico Bell (NAD), Philip Buys and Gert Heyns (Scott) and Johann Rabie and HB Kruger (Telkom).

“Looking at the men’s field, I think this could be one of the fastest Berg and Bush events ever,” said Hatherly.
In the women’s field, last year’s mixed category winner Candice Neethling will line up alongside Namibia’s Vera Adrian, who also competed in Rio.
Also in the mix are 2015 women’s champion Carla van Huyssteen, who has teamed up with Kim le Court (Time Freight), and the ever-dangerous pairing of Robyn de Groot and Jennie Stenerhag.
“I really enjoy racing with Candice,” said Adrian. “Both of us enjoy the technical riding which is a great advantage.”
