Team Dimension Data’s Omar Fraile took the lead in the mountains classification on stage 20 of the 2016 Vuelta a Espana yesterday.
Fraile leads the KOM classification ahead of Elissonde by only one point. However, without any points left on the final stage to Madrid, he only needs to finish and will claim the jersey for the second time in his career.

Kenny Elissonde (FDJ) lead the classification going into this morning’s penultimate stage, which offered five chances to gain points for the KOM classification.
Fraile went into the lead by two points when he crossed the summit in first position. Elissonde won another point during the course of the stage, but had to surrender the KOM jersey in the end.
The winner of the stage was Pierre Latour. The Team Ag2R rider reeled in a breakaway group working with Darwin Atapume before outsprinting the BMC rider to the finish line.
Overall leader, Nairo Quintana, defended his red jersey against an attack by Chris Froome and will lead the field into Madrid tomorrow.
