The route of the 2017 Cape Epic, which will start at Meerendal Wine Estate on March 19, was revealed at a press launch in Cape Town today.
Riders will start their eight-day, 691km ride with a prologue at Meerendal Wine Estate. The prologue will see participants climb 750m in 26km.
Stage one will start and finish at Hermanus High School, a journey of 101km with 2 300m of vertical climbing.
From Hermanus, mountain bikers will travel 102km and climb 2 350m to Elandskloof, Greyton, on stage two.
Stage three will finish at the same venue in Greyton after 78km and 1 650m of climbing.
On stage four riders will travel from this venue to Oak Valley in Elgin after 112km and 2 150m of climbing.
After 84km and 2 100m of climbing, riders will finish at the same venue in Elgin on stage five.
Elgin will also play host to the start and finish venue of stage six, a 103km ride with 2 750m of climbing.
From here, the 2017 Cape Epic will wrap up with stage seven at Val de Vie, Franschhoek, after 85km and 1 350m of climbing.
