South African Ryan Gibbons and Australian Ben O’Connor have joined Team Dimension Data after proving their ability in the U23 ranks over the last few seasons.
The 22-year-old Gibbons has ridden for the Dimension Data Continental team and his early season performances earned him a stagiaire spot in their World Tour outfit in August.

He has continued to impress, riding in support roles for the team leaders and handling the pressure of captaining the team at the Münsterland Giro, where he was the best-placed rider.
“I am so fortunate to get this wonderful opportunity to join Team Dimension Data,” said Gibbons.
“Coming up from its Continental outfit is going to make the step a lot easier as it’s a familiar environment.
“I’m grateful to have been given a taste of what pro cycling is about as a stagiaire. This has given me huge motivation and I hope to be a valuable member of the team.”

The 20-year-old O’Connor, who excels in the mountains, joins the team from Avanti-IsoWhey.
He has some strong finishes in U23 stage races to his name, with a third place overall at the Tour de Savoie Mont Blanc being one of his best results.
“I’m truly humbled to have been given the opportunity to commence my professional career with Dimension Data. The team has a close network of support that will help and guide me in the top tier team in the world of cycling.
“The ability to race with some of the top riders such as Edvald Boasson Hagen, Steve Cummings and Mark Cavendish will be the perfect environment for my development.”
