In the men’s 35-39 category, Gert Fouche claimed the gold medal when he powered to victory in his scratch race.
He also claimed silver medals in the points and pursuit events, setting an SA record in the latter race.
Competing in his first world championships, he just missed out on the bronze medal in the time-trial, but did set a national record in the race.
Ilze Bole also jumped on board the medal train to add to South Africa’s tally when she claimed the bronze in the women’s 35-39 category.
Hylton Belitzky won the bronze in the men’s 40-44 division and Amanda Akom set a new national record in the women’s 50-54 pursuit race.
In the women’s 60-64 category, Ilna Lemmer won bronze medals in the points and scratch races, as well as setting a national record in the pursuit.
