“We had a good stage. We started with everyone and stayed in the mix. At the first climb we pulled away and opened a lead, but then my bike punctured,” said Klerck.
“We had to fight really hard to catch the guys again. On the fast downhill Tyson here (referring to Murray) put the hammer down. The trails are really phenomenal. Finishing first at W2W is massive for me.”
Theresa Ralph and Hamish Knowles (Team Galileo Risk) snatched the win in the mixed team category in 3:16:59.
Robert Kitching and Collette Bastard (Team Recycles Racing) took second on the stage, while Tanja and Jon Oosthuyse (Team Totally Stoked) finished third.
Lolita Van Aardt and Simone Rhoda Van Aardt (Team SALiRE Women) won the women’s race on the final stage after completing the 69km stage in 3:41:20.
