Here is what each stage of the Origin of Trails, taking place in Stellenbosch, has in store for riders this weekend.
Stage one kicks off on Saturday at 7am with either a 60km (1 620m climb) or a 35km (830m climb) route, with single-track covering 18.1km.
The start is at Hofmeyer Hall in Church Street, with riders crossing the finish line at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate.
There are three waterpoints on the route. The first two are at Jonkershoek Gate (16.7km and 29.3km) and the third one is at Mont Marie Restaurant (50.3km).
Stage two follows on the Sunday at 7am with a 60km (1 480m climb) or a 32km (750m climb) route. The total single-track is 19.3km.
The stage starts and finishes at Blaauwklippen Wine Estate.
The first waterpoint is at Botmaskop (15km on route), the second at Klein Bethlehem (33km), and the third back at Botmaskop (44.5km).
“Our focus has always been on the routes,” said Michael Meyer, managing director of Stillwater Sports.
“Stellenbosch is a mountain biking mecca, boasting a myriad of magnificent trails that aren’t always accessible to the MTB community. We are proud to give mountain bikers an annual opportunity to relish these trails and to experience mountain biking like never before.”
