The Western Province Cycling Association announced the passing of Craig Hawtrey in a message on Facebook earlier today.

The 45-year-old served as president of the organisation and was a respected UCI commissaire.
They extended their condolences to his wife and family and said cycling had lost a good friend.
Hawtrey served as a commissaire on behalf Cycling South Africa at last year’s UCI Road World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
He also officiated at the UCI Junior Track World Championships in Australia and was appointed race secretary at the B Worlds in Cape Town.
In a career that spanned 24 years, he did duty at four Commonwealth Games. He was a UCI commissaire for 17 years.
