Nolan Hoffman is gearing up for the 2017 African Continental Track Championship at the Cyril Geoghegan Velodrome in Durban from March 20-24.
Hoffman says his greatest threats on the track are from his own country.
“Many of the African countries I race against are much stronger on the road than they are on the track.”

“Infrastructure plays a huge role in developing skill sets and all of that come into play in the competition. Although we don’t know what will happen on the day, my strongest competitors, or the ones I’ll be looking out for, would be Bernard Esterhuizen, Evan Carstens, and Jean Spies.”
The 2016 SA National Elite Men’s Scratch Champion says that his major focus lies with the Scratch and Omnium events.
“I know that if I become the African Continental Champion in the Scratch event, I will automatically be entered into World Champs. That’s why there is a lot of emphasis on it for me,” he added.
Hoffman, who is skilled both on track and the road, recently took the title at the Herald Cycle Tour.
He and his team (formally Team Telkom) recently rebranded with a new sponsor on board, becoming Team BCX only a week ago.
Hoffman, although riding for the National team, will still be joined by many of his BCX team mates who will also be taking part in the Championships.
