“For me this is the only TrailSeeker event that I’m going to do this year as I’m leaving for Sweden on Monday so I don’t think I’ll be back to do any more of the series here,” said the Swedish champion.
Stenerhag will race across Europe for the next five months, starting with the Lidingöloppet in Stockholm next Saturday.
“Although I didn’t place too much focus on this event, I wanted to do it because I love the racing in the area and the series is a great event overall,” she said.
Stenerhag was followed home by Vera Adrian, four minutes later, and Carmen Buchacher.
Last year’s TrailSeeker champion Katie Lennard finished fourth.
“Vera and I rode together for the first 40km and we took turns leading – we both tried to get away from each other, but neither of us was able to create much of a gap,” said Stenerhag.
“At the third water point she stopped and I carried on, really pushing as hard as I could because I wanted to keep the gap between us,” she said.
“It was a hard race today because of the heat and it was also a very tough route – lots of ups and downs and single tracks.”
The next event in the Western Cape TrailSeeker Series takes place in Grabouw in June.
