Riders completed the first stage of the Winelands MTB Encounter, having made their way through the scenic surrounds of Stellenbosch today.

Stage one
Waylon Woolcock and HB Kruger won the opening stage of the Liberty Winelands Encounter, which took riders on a 54km journey from Stellenbosch to Franschhoek.
Jennie Stenerhag and Katie Lennard took the win in the women’s race, while Vera Adrian and Corne Barnard won the mixed race.
The dry and hot conditions made the route tricky for the mountain bikers.

Stage two
Waylon Woolcock and HB Kruger, as well as the women’s and mixed category winners, continued to lead when they won the second stage which finished in Wellington.
The 57km stage offered a dry, hot, technical and challenging route.

Stage three
HB Kruger and Waylon Woolcock held onto their first place position of day three, along with Jennie Stenerhag and Katie Lennard in the women’s category.
Dorma Kaba topped the podium for the mixed category.
Riders faced some challenging climbing on the third and final day of the event.
