The national teams selected for the UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships will aim to set new records in the pursuit and sprint events in Italy from August 23 to 27.
Abdul Davids will manage the men’s team as their goal is to break the current junior team pursuit national record of four minutes and 25 seconds.
The women’s team will attempt to break the national record for the team sprint under the guidance of Zanne Parsons.

The dynamic pairing of Jessica Brown and Courtney Smith achieved a similar feat earlier this year at the National Championships in Bellville last month.
Cycling South Africa released a statement detailing the teams and stated they were selected based on their results from the National Track Cycling Championships.
The men were selected by the top individual pursuit times and the best overall rider in the endurance events; while the women selected were the fastest two 200m times and the fastest individual pursuit time.
