Alan Hatherly secured a hat trick in the elite men’s section in the fourth of the SA MTB Cup Series XCO events, which took place in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, today.
Hatherly won the 2nd and 3rd events and secured the win today with an impressive time of 1:19:54 over seven laps.
Philip Buys completed the course in 1:22:22, with Jan Withaar taking third spot on 1:23:24.

Amy McDougall also secured the overall win in the women’s elite, with a time of 1:26:38. She was followed home by Mariske Strauss in 1:28:53 and Bianca Haw in 1:32:33.
