After the tragic news of Greg Anderson’s passing, Absa Pride riders will be organising commemorative rides for the nine-time Cape Epic finisher next month.
Two rides will be held in Andersons’ name, who was killed in an accident involving a motor vehicle in Nelspruit this weekend.
Absa sponsorship manager Adam Brooke said those who wanted to join could show their support by wearing a red cycling shirt or other item of clothing.
Initially scheduled for July 30, organisers made the decision to reschedule for a later date so as to consolidate a number of rides that had been organised in Andersons’ memory.
While RSVP’s are not strictly necessary, Brooke said an indication of interest would be appreciated so as to prepare adequately.
Brooke said the group was “shocked and saddened” to hear of Andersons’ passing.
“Greg was one of our Absa Pride riders. He was a great guy, everyone thoroughly enjoyed his company. He will be remembered fondly among the Absa Pride riders.”
