Switzerland’s Nino Schurter won the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships cross country olympic race that took place in Cairns yesterday.

Schurter crossed the line in 1:27.44, seven seconds ahead of Czech Republic’s Jaroslav Kulhavy, while Switzerland’s Thomas Litscher finished third.
In the women’s race, Switzerland’s Jolanda Neff finished the six-lap race in 1:27.17 to bring home her second gold medal of the week.
Great Britain’s Annie Last crossed the finish line 2’23” later, with France’s Pauline Ferrand Prevot in third.
