Ascendis Health’s Gert Heyns won the first day of the sixth round of the National MTB Series, which took place in Dullstroom, Mpumalanga, today.
Heyns completed the 75km marathon event in 2:51:32. NAD Pro’s Nico Bell and series leader, Philip Buys, were hot on his heels as the top three finished within 20 seconds of each other.
Candice Lill led the women home as she finished well ahead of the competition. The dormakaba rider finished in 3:17:01, three minutes ahead of Samantha Sanders. Yolandi du Toit finished a further two minutes back to complete the women’s top three.
