Maties won the Varsity Sports competition on the first stage of the Varsity MTB Challenge at Nederburg Winery in Paarl, Western Cape, today.

The three-man team finished the 50km course in 2:08:17 to beat UCT and Tuks.
The women from Maties led the women’s race when they crossed the finish line in 2:38:39 ahead of Tuks and NWU.
