Charl-Pierre Esterhuyse and Jennie Stenerhag claimed the 112km men’s and women’s titles at the Race2Nowhere in McGregor, Western Cape, today.
Esterhuyse, who also won the Kaleo MTB Klassik earlier this year, beat Craig Gerber and Rikus Visser in 5:32:44. Gerber, whom is a physiotherapist for Topeak-Ergon, took part to ‘work’ for his team ahead of the 2018 Cape Epic, finished in 5:33:28. Visser rounded out the podium in 5:33:30
Stenerhag, who said she was unsure of her form before the race, finished the event in 5:52:20 ahead of Louise Ferreira (6:12:51) and Marleen Lourens (6:17:51).
The 68km men’s category was won by Dirk Smit in 3:44:09, while Ariane Lüthi rode to victory in the women’s race (3:48:03).
