Swiss mountain bike marathon champion Konny Looser won the solo category at the Desert Dash in Swakopmund, Namibia, today.

Looser beat South Africans Max Knox and Thinus Redelinghuys in a time of 13:55:29 after the 369km race from Grove Shopping Centre in Kleine Kuppe, Windhoek.
Rebecca Robisch secured the women’s title when she completed the event in 16:09:14 ahead of Wilmien Chamberlaine and Anri Parker.
KIA Elite’s Cobus Smit and Drikus Coetzee won the two-person men’s category in 14:41:14. They were followed by Nelis van Zyl and Jean-Paul Burger of Timber Ex. Rounding out the podium were Braam Vermeulen and Clinton Hilfiker of King Price Insurance.
The mixed race was won by Hansie en Grietjie’s Nichol Jordaan and Jana Kruger (16:28:50). Second were Christiaan and Silke Bean (Spill the Beans), with Marion Schonencke and Ananias Tamatisous (Dynamic duo) completing the podium.
Michelle Vorster and Carmen Buchacher of Janine&Suzelle Davin Sport Trust led the women home in 16:10:02. Germien Stals and Genevieve Weber (Marathon Sugar) came in second with Janine Muller and Mari du Toit (Oakley Group Girls) in third.
MBM’s Tristan de Lange, Hans du Toit, Alex Miller and Danzel de Koe won the four-person men’s competition in 13:55:28. Luke Evens, Wayde Finch, Liam Swanson and Aaron Adler of KIA-UCT placed second, followed by Andrew McLean, Piet Swiegers, Jan Dams and Robert Sim of Gondwana Dust Devils.
Andre de Klerk, Janine de Klerk, Michelle Doman and Eddie Viljoen (Indongo Toyota) rode to victory in 16:31:01 in the mixed event, with Sandra Lippert, Gudrun Marschall, Phillip Theissen, Axel Theissen (Cymot-Scott Quartet) in second. Third on the day were Greg Chase, Bronwen Chase, Brian Kibble and Kim Kibble (Terrain Tamer).
The women’s race was won by Hollard Mashiene’s Marguerite Verwey, Antja du Toit, Wanda Tattersall and Hester Prins in 16:49:15. Maike Bochert, Adele de la Rey, Michaela Ham and Anneke Steenkamp (Propshaft Engineering) took the next spot on the podium, with Gesa Kock, Gabriela Raith, Benita Kasch and Rosi Hennes (Namibian Coffee Roaster Dashers) in third.
