Mountain bikers from all over the world made their way to the Attakwas Extreme MTB Challenge yesterday.
They rode from Oudtshoorn to Great Brak River in the Western Cape to compete in the first event in the 2018 UCI MTB Marathon Series.
South African Matthys Beukes won the 121km men’s race in 4:56:56, followed by Germany’s Tim Bohme (5:06:02) and fellow South African Philip Buys (5:12:13).
The women’s title went to Switzerland’s Ariane Lüthi as she finished in 5:45:11 to beat Swedish Jennie Stenerhag (5:57:11) and German Sabine Spitz (6:01:31).
