Austria’s Alban Lakata and Czech Republic’s Kristián Hynek secured the overall Tankwa Trek title near Ceres in the Western Cape today.
The Canyon-Topeak duo finished the three-day event over 259km in 9:56:40 to beat Cannondale-FR’s Maxime Marotte of France and Marcel Guerrini of Switzerland (9:59:11).

PYGA Euro Steel’s Matthys Beukes and Philip Buys, who both hail from South Africa, took third in 10:00:18.
The elite men’s race on stage three was won by Swiss Nicola Rohrbach and Austrian Daniel Geismayr of Centurion Vaude in 2:54:50. Beukes and Buys finished second (2:59:37) with Lakata and Hynek in third (2:59:40).
South African Candice Lill and German Helen Grobert (dormakaba SA) topped the overall women’s standings with a time of 11:32:46. Lill’s compatriot Robyn de Groot and Sabine Spitz, who also hail from Germany, placed second in 11:36:35.
Silverback Volvo-OMX’s Yolande de Villiers and Mariske Straus of South Africa came third in 11:47:11.
The 89km stage was won by De Villiers and Straus in 3:20:59. Ascendis Health’s De Groot and Spitz finished second in 3:22:44 with Lill and Grobert (3:23:11) completing the podium.
