To celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, the three races making up the Wines2Whales Race, which starts in late October, will each be named after popular wines in the Western Cape.
The finish line of the three-stage race will also return to Hermanus, the best whale-watching spot in the province.

Race founder Johan Kriegler ensures this year’s event will “exceed expectations”.
“We are trying to innovate, and at the same time, retain all of the character and tradition that has made the race one of the most popular multi-stage events in South Africa.
“Our growth since our first race in 2009 has been testament to the dedication of our staff, suppliers, sponsors and land owners to put on a challenging yet enjoyable mountain-bike race,” he added.
The three renamed races:
1. First race (October 26 to 28) will be named the Wines2Whales Chardonnay.
2. Second race (October 29 to 31) will be named the Wines2Whales Pinotage.
3. Third race (November 2 to 4) will be named the Wines2Whales Shiraz.
