Langvad, who has won the eight-stage race three times, took a break last year after pursuing her studies, but has “built up the hunger to race and kill yourself” for this year’s event.
Langvad is coming off of some notable form after winning the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Stellenbosch elite women’s race on Saturday.
“Looking at the numbers it looks like I had the best (European) winter training ever,” she said at the event’s press conference today.
The Dane will partner Cape Epic first-timer Kate Courtney, who hails from America. “She [Courtney] has prepared well and I think we’re among the favourites, which is a role we can take on quite well.
“Racing with pressure is not new to us,” Langvad added.
